Feline Wellness ProtocolOur goal is to provide exemplary preventive health care and early disease detection.
Through the use of wellness protocols, we are able to routinely assess the overall health of our patients. This includes monitoring bloodwork for subtle signs of organ dysfunction and recommending nutritional and lifestyle changes as your pet ages. Below is an example of our Wellness Protocol for a healthy cat from the pediatric stage through adulthood. It is important to note that this is just an example, and individualized recommendations will be made based on the anticipated and actual lifestyle of your pet. 6-8 weeks:
Complete physical exam
Routine deworming for intestinal parasites
Fecal floatation
Nutritional consultation
Behavioral consultation including litterbox protocols and recommendations
Preventive medicine consultation
Kitten kit with first heartworm preventative/flea preventative dose
1st RCPC (Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia and Chlamydia) vaccine
9-11 weeks:
Complete physical exam
Routine deworming for intestinal parasites
Nutritional and behavioral counseling
Heartworm preventive and flea control (if recommended)
FelV/FIV testing
2nd RCPC vaccine
1st FelV (Feline Leukemia Virus) vaccine if outdoors
1st FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency) vaccine if outdoors
12-14 weeks:
Complete physical exam
Fecal floatation
Nutritional and behavioral counseling
Heartworm preventive and flea control
Discuss neuter or reproductive plans
Final RCPC vaccine
Rabies vaccine (will not do if FelV and FIV vaccines are given this visit)
Final FelV vaccine, 2nd FIV vaccine
15-18 weeks:
Final FIV vaccine
Rabies (1yr) if not done previously
6-9 months:
Wellness profile – CBC or PCV/TS, Serum Chemistry (Prep Profile)
Spay or castration (if adult canine teeth have erupted)*
Laser Declaw
Avid Microchip placement
15-16 months (~1 –1.5yr old):
Complete physical exam
Fecal floatation
Nutritional, behavioral and medical counseling
Adult RCPC vaccine (2yr)
FelV and FIV vaccines (if applicable)
Rabies Vaccine (3yr)
Even age years:
Complete physical exam
Nutritional, behavioral and medical counseling
Fecal floatation
Wellness profile – CBC or PCV/TS, Serum chemistry (Prep Profile)
FelV and FIV vaccines
Rabies vaccine if due (given every 3 years after the initial 1yr vaccine)
Odd age years:
Complete physical exam

Fecal floatation
RCPC vaccine
FelV and FIV vaccines
Rabies vaccine if due (given every 3 years after the initial 1 year vaccine)
Senior Pets (annually after 8 years):
